Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a Fiduciary?
Yes, we are among the few. As fiduciaries, we are both legally and ethically obligated to act in our clients’ best interests. We must place your financial well-being ahead of our own and fully disclose any
potential conflicts of interest.
In contrast, most financial advisors operate under a suitability standard, they are only required to recommend investments that are “suitable,” even if they are not the best option available.
How do you get paid?
We are fee-only advisors. Our compensation is a percentage of the assets we manage for you. This fee is inclusive of ongoing investment management, retirement planning, and advice. We are not paid commissions.
Are you a market timer?
No, we practice dynamic asset allocation. Market timing attempts to predict short-term market movements and shifts investments in and out of the market based on those forecasts. In practice, it is highly difficult to execute consistently and can lead to missed opportunities and emotional decision-making.
Dynamic asset allocation, by contrast, is a systematic, rules-based approach that adjusts portfolio exposures based on changes in market risk, trends, and volatility. Rather than trying to predict direction, it focuses on managing risk and maintaining discipline across changing market conditions.
What types of clients do you work with?
Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and live throughout the
country. They typically have limited time to fully manage their financial matters and are looking for a long-term
partnership.
I don’t want a retirement plan; will you just manage my portfolio?
Yes, and at any time you need planning assistance, we are there for you.
